ENGIE GEMS — .NET systems for energy trading
Since March 2025, I have worked as a Senior .NET Engineer on integrated trading applications spanning pricing, booking and real-time market data.
Context
The scope includes several integrated applications on a microservices architecture used by desks across multiple time zones. The constraints are typical of trading systems: real-time market data, availability, price consistency and fast diagnosis when something behaves incorrectly.
Challenge
The platform had to keep evolving while remaining in production. A significant part of the work focused on technical modernization and operational autonomy: .NET migration, delivery automation, better diagnostics and support outside European hours.
Technical contribution
- Maintained and extended real-time market-data distribution services for B2B applications.
- Built pricing and product-construction services for trading products.
- Extended a booking microservice integrated with multiple internal platforms.
- Migrated microservices from .NET 6 to .NET 10 with unit tests and full non-regression.
- Migrated repositories and pipelines from Azure DevOps to GitHub with SonarQube quality gates and security controls.
- Designed a sales margin pre-calculation based on a maturity index.
Impact
Automation through CI/CD and improved logging reduced dependence on European support for teams operating across time zones. The result was a platform modernized while trading activity continued.
